Finally, the Rock has come back to Los Angeles.
Okay, that really wasn't what I planned on posting about, but when I wrote that title I got a little carried away. Anyway, onto the actual subject, Georgetown basketball will be making exactly zero appearances on national TV this year. Thompson III has an uphill battle ahead of him.

The Slums of Georgetown
Apparently they've tossed kids out of most of the houses on Prospect Street after some kid was trapped in his basement and killed during a fire.
Of note, they shut down none other than 3301 Prospect, home of any number of lame College Republican parties and perhaps best remembered as the place where Bill made Marti the homewrecker cry.

Fantasy Basketball, Anyone?
If anyone is interested in joining a fantasy NBA league (Mr. Greene, I'm looking in your direction) let me know and I'll shoot you info on the league.

I wonder if Kerry could raise him from the dead, too?
Edwards: 'When John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to walk. Get up out of that wheelchair and walk again'...
Saw this on Drudge, so it should probably be taken with a grain of salt unless or until it shows up somewhere reputable.
Once people find out about Kerry's superhuman healing powers, he's sure to win!

From the Archives
This has been posted before, but in light of recent events I thought it bore repeating:
Q. What's the opposite of Christopher Reeve?
A. Christopher Walken
Also, since I'm on the topic, does Ken Caminiti count as a big enough celebrity to be grouped in with Rodney Dangerfield and Christopher Reeve, or should I still be waiting for the third?

Point of Order
Will, in the future when referencing historical figures that only SFS grads would know, please provide a link to make us all a little smarter. Not all of us are as up on our European history as we should be.
Exempli Gratia:
This man could be the next Metternich.

I Figured it Out!
The core of John Kerry's Iraq policy seems to be his delusionally messianic faith in his ability to bring "other countries" into the war effort, in order to share the burden and presumably allow us to bring some of our troops home.
Of course, it's not clear who these other countries would be. It obviously ain't going to be France, Germany, or anyone else in Europe. Until recently, I figured Kerry was just blowing smoke up the American public's ass, and actually intended to cut and run at the first opporunity, if elected.
But then I realized something while watching the debate last week.
Fact: North Korea has a 1.1 million man army, primarily ground troops.
Fact: Iran also has a decent size army, and clear interests in having a stable and friendly Iraq, and stomping out the Sunni insurgency there to ensure Shiite predominance.
Fact: John Kerry has advocated a more conciliatory policy towards North Korea and Iran, including caving to North Korean demands for bilateral negotiations, and trying to buy off Iran's nuclear ambitions by giving them nuclear fuel.
I think you can see where I'm going here...
Sure, he may look like a wussy internationalist, but in reality, this man could be the next Metternich.
And people think Dick Cheney is an evil genius.
