Just curious -- outside of Washington, do people really care about things like this Karl Rove flap, or the Supreme Court nomination battle?
I fear I have become a Beltway Insider, albeit a horribly apathetic one. It's kind of the worst of both worlds...I feel obligated to pay attention to these things, but don't care enough about them to make the time I spend keeping abreast of them worthwhile.
On an unrelated note, anyone interested in Vegas, perhaps sometime in September? I feel the urge to do something self-destructive.

I was just thinking that Slate was spending far more time than seemed reasonable speculating on Supreme Court nominees and Rove, and figured it was the influence of the new bosses (Washington Post).
While I also probably follow this stuff a little more closely than I really have any reason to, I think on the whole most people just don't give a crap. In all likelihood, the republicans know this, and figure they can get away with most anything over the next year or so, figuring most everything will be forgotten by the time any major election rolls around.
Personally, Rove seems like quite the asshole, the kind of jerk upon whom you can only hope for misfortune. That's mostly inspired by his pandering to the religious right (aka Eddy).
Anyway, enough politics, Vegas in September sounds excellent. I have the month off (excepting the week I'm in NYC for consecutive weddings). Lets shoot for early in the month (weddings are 17 and 24, and I was thinking of doing a lead up week in DC). If people don't mind taking time off work, we can go midweek for really cheap.
Eh, Washington. The Supreme Court stuff and the Rove stuff seems irrelevant here.
Vegas in September sounds good to me too. The weekend would be better for me, even if it is more expensive.
I think I can do pretty much any weekend in September...thinking probably a Thursday through Sunday junket. Haven't taken much vacation this year, so I could do midweek if that's the preferred route
Cost ain't an issue for me.
